Nicole Junkermann discusses cart abandonment

Abandoned shopping carts cost online retailers billions of dollars a year.

The average cart abandonment rate in 2019 was 77.13%.

Research shows that 75% of cart abandonments were caused by the customer breaking off the purchase because of external interruptions.

Customers still wanted to complete the purchase, they just had something more urgent to do.

E-mailing customers to remind them of abandoned purchases can be highly effective.

According to research by checkout experience platform Bolt, 21% of customers click on cart abandonment emails and 10.7% of these clicks lead to recovered carts.

Bolt is the world’s first checkout experience platform.
