Nicole Junkermann

Early Career

In the early days of the internet and soon after graduating from university, Nicole embarked as an entrepreneur by building and selling her first business, the gaming platform Winamax.  Afterwards, she worked at LDCOM, which would later merge with Neuf Telecom to become Neuf Cegetel, one of the largest telecommunications companies in France.  She then joined at inception and developed Infront Sports and Media into one of the world’s leading sports media rights businesses before selling it to Bridgepoint for €600m in 2011.  Nicole also invested in Shanghai Really Sports, China’s third largest sports retailer, and went on to raise her own €242.5m private equity fund, United in Sports, focused on sports and media. Today, Nicole is focused on venture investments in deep tech areas, such as AI, transformative healthcare and fintech, as well as seeking out more developed opportunities in PE and real estate.

A New Story

NJF Capital is the venture capital arm of NJF Holdings.  Junkermann is among a new group of entrepreneurs with a common vision that transformative technologies in areas such as genomics, virtual reality and artificial intelligence will create major breakthroughs in healthcare, financial infrastructure, security and premium content.  It is within these areas, where the old and the new converge through innovation and the potential to disrupt existing industries, that we look to discover the companies of tomorrow.

Our current venture portfolio includes investments in deep tech companies, such as Owkin, Blockchain, Groq and Swarm, and fintech such as Bolt.  Three of our early investments – Songza, Dollar Shave Club and RelateIQ – were acquired by Google, Unilever and Salesforce respectively.

Nicole serves on the boards of Shanghai Really Sports, Trilantic Capital Europe and Owkin.  In November 2018, Junkermann was appointed to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care’s Healthtech Advisory Board. The board guides the UK Government on its mission to transform technology in the NHS.

NJF Holdings brings together Nicole’s existing venture (NJF Capital), private equity (NJF Private Equity), real estate (NJF Real Estate) and art (The JJ Collection) interests under a single NJF umbrella.  Nicole believes passionately in the values of honesty, respect and fairness. Her experience as an entrepreneur enables her to offer a unique perspective on the businesses she invests in, along with an appreciation of how long it takes to build them and the need to support people and innovation as part of the process.

NJF Holdings is open to exploring co-investment and syndicated opportunities, as well as direct, private investments.
